Egg Sandwich

As far back as I can remember, my daddy has made fried egg sandwiches. Sometimes for breakfast....and sometimes as a snack. I am trying to use up the things from my fridge in preparation of our move on Tuesday. We make ours very simple...little butter and and egg with salt and pepper. Fry that up. Two slices of soft white bread with Miracle Whip. Yum! It hit the spot today...and helped me use up a few more things from my kitchen.
And, this little gal was next to me begging for a bite. She thinks that showing her little lower teeth and smiling at me is going to work and I will give in. I am a worked. :)

Some Ho Ho Ho Love

My baby sissy went to St Louis a couple weeks ago with a dear friend of hers...who also happens to be a paper addict like she is. While there....she found a little project that she thought she would make me. And man! Am I ever so glad that she did!!! I love vintage things. I especially love vintage pictures of myself and my family as children. That will get me every time. :) Isn't this the cutest thing? A little shadow box with mittens hanging on a little clothes line. And on those little mittens are pictures of she and I as children at Christmas.

In this one, I am wearing a little smock dress that I believe my Grandma Mac made me. I am also holding a stuffed Santa that I still have to this date!
I just love this "just because" present she made me. I swear she should quit that job at the bank playing with numbers (yuckie!) and play with paper all day. She is very talented and crafty that little sis-o-mine.

Glad someone has found a use for all these boxes in my house.

Saying So Long is sooo hard....

Last night my co-workers wanted to have a little get together and farewell dinner for myself and my husband. We meet at Olive Garden. I thought we would just have a nice dinner together and enjoy going out together as a group one last time. But they had other plans. There were gifts!!! For me!!! And what amazing gifts they were. I adore coffee. Love love love it. My wonderful boss and his wife gave me a Keurig Coffee Maker with all kinds of wonderful coffee to go with it. It was such a surprise!!

I look very pleased with it...don't I? And....from my co-workers. These ladies know me so very well. They know my addiction with Mary Engelbreit. And, they know I love quilting. So what did they do for me? They took some of the funny sayings each one says and stitched it onto fabric. Then, turned it into a quilted wall hanging! Let's just say...I had NO control of my tears after opening this up. They simply would not stop. Actually...they are still flowing now as I type this.

Debbie did the sewing and stitching. I heard her say she was up very late finishing it for me. She did a fantastic job and I will promptly hang it in my sewing room when we get moved so each time I look at it....I will remember a place with people I so dearly love.

Karen was responsible for sewing these beautiful pillows for me!! She took pictures from the cruise our doctor took us on a few years ago and put them onto the pillows. She made two with pictures of us and one with a poem about friends. Once again...Mary Engelbreit fabric was used. And rumor has it she was up very very very late finishing these up for me. Bless her heart!!

The gifts were lovely....but not as much as the people behind them. How on earth can I not be around this group of women each week? How can I tell them "so long" on my last day of work Wednesday? How can I tell each one of them how much I cherish their friendship? How can I thank them for being so much fun to work with? I am a very talkative person. But at this time of my life....I am without words. And, my heart is breaking.

Off we go.....

My girlfriend Lori and I started a tradition ten years ago. We were mothers of very young children and we thought we needed a get away. So, we scheduled our first Christmas shopping trip. Her youngest was six months old....mine was one year old. We started going for just one night...but quickly decided that we needed two nights away! :) This weekend is our anniversary. We are going to Indianapolis to shop for our families and friends. This year is more important to me now than ever before. I am moving in 22 days. I am going to cherish every single minute with her this trip. Not that I have not in years past....but this year is even more precious to me. I foresee lots of giggling and Starbucks and Advil for our sore hips and fun. The Advil is something new we just picked up a couple years ago due to our....ahem.....aging. And a few Auntie Anne pretzels for old times sake. :)

We leave in the morning after the kids get dropped off at school and we won't be home until Sunday afternoon some time. We are going to have a great time!!
