This morning I went into my oldest daughters room to make sure she was up in time for her job. (She works in the same little cafe I do.) For just a moment, the hands of time literally wound backwards. I did not see the young woman that she has become....I saw the sweet toddler face she used to have laying on the pillow. And I just stood there looking at her. Soaking in the moment. Remembering a time when I thought "that stage" of mothering was the hardest. The terrible twos. Was I ever wrong on that note. Teenage daughters....well....let's just say some days I am holding on for dear life.
There are so many things I wish I could go back and change for my firstborn. I have told her on many occasions that I am practicing this job of motherhood on her. I am still not done yet. I am not her friend. But someday, I hope to be. I know that she will do some things differently, than I, when she becomes a mother. But that's ok.
My own mother practiced on me. I was her firstborn. And she did an amazing job as a mother. AMAZING!
Happy Mothers Day to all the Mama's out there. And especially to my own. :)

And you are a FANTASTIC mama (even if our children don't always recognize it at the moment). Hope you have a wonderful day, you deserve it. Love you Sissy
Happy Mother's Day, friend! With the Lord's help we do the best we can. She will see that one day. Sweet blessings!
Happy Mother's Day!
Your story tugs at my heart.
Happy Mother's Day Shann! You are an incredible mom! My prayers are with during this hard phase, just like toddlerhood passed, so this will too. Many blessings.
Being a mom is the hardest AND the most rewarding job in the world! I totally understand the challenge of a teenage daughter. (Sons seem easier to me for some reasons.) My daughter and I both managed to live through her teen years. She's now 23. And I can tell you that it gets better.
Happy mother's day to you too!
I hope you had a grand Mother's day Shann!
How nice that Garden of Daisies encouraged you that it gets better when your girls get older. I trust that it will.
Bless you!
You are a great Mom honey. God knew what he was doing when he chose you to be the mother of our two daughters. I am very fortunate to know that when I am gone working and away such a wonderful mother is home taking care of our two girls.
