A Grandpa and his Princess

Our church had a Father/Daughter Ball last night. My husband has a job where he travels a lot. One week Canada, the next week Dallas, the next week Michigan. And so on and so on and so on. He has been waiting our daughters entire lives to take them to a Father/Daughter dance. Well, we finally had one and he had to be out of town for work and he could not take them. The 13 year old daughter went on her Jr High retreat this weekend so she could not go...but the 10 year old daughter wanted to go so badly. Well, Papa stepped in and took his little Princess to the ball in place of daddy. He brought her a little corsage with tiny little pale pink carnation flowers.

I bought her a little dress and sweater to wear on this special night. And, new shoes. We curled her hair and I even put a little blush and eye shadow on her because the night was so special. She really did look like a princess, don't you think?

Here are the two of them posing for a few pictures before the dance. Doesn't my daddy look handsome? He looked so proud to be taking her and she was sooo excited to be going.

Unfortunately the night ended short due to her tummy hurting. So, they came home. That was such a shame and she was so disappointed about it. But, the time that they did spend together was a memory that I know they both will have for a lifetime. And, I am so proud of my daddy and his stepping up to take a little girl to her first ball. He has always been my prince charming....I guess he is now my daughters too!

The Teen's Room

This weekend I spent painting my daughters room. She wanted pink, pink, pink. And, it seems that is just what she got. She picked out the bedding but I picked out the wall color and curtains. She is gone this weekend to a Jr high retreat for church. I finished the room this afternoon. I sure hope she likes it. It looks so neat and tidy right now. Maybe I should post a picture when she gets back home and lives in it for a few days. That would be a more accurate photo. I can't say anything....my mom told me today that I too was a pig when I was her age. Guess it is just part of life. I just pray she grows out of it someday. :)

Don't try this at home!

Today was a dreary, yucky, rainy day. Much different from yesterday! What is a girl to do while out shopping for her daughters "ball gown" but stop at Starbucks and grab her favorite drink? These little frozen concoctions are my most favorite. But, my little hands get so cold drinking them. I put this little "mug sweater" in my glove box that I bought off Etsy awhile back. The perfect thing for my beverage and my cold little hands! As you can see, I was driving. I just had to take her little picture so you could see my ingenious idea I had this afternoon. But, if my daughters, when they begin driving, try to take a picture of their frozen coffee sporting a little pink knitted sweater and operating an automobile in the pouring rain.........I just might have to yank their keys. hee hee :)

Bathing Beauties

Sunshine came today with some warm air. My dad said it got to 59 degrees here today. I cleaned the front door glass and left the door open for the furry babies to look outside and watch the neighborhood go by. This is how I found them when I walked by the door. Obviously they have not seen the sun or felt it for awhile.

Valentines Day Out

My husband and I got treated to a night out again last night without the kids. We have Nana and Papa to thank for it. (Thanks very much you two dearies!) We started our Valentines day celebration by using a gift certificate we already had to our favorite BBQ place. It was really good last night! We are hosting bible study at our house this evening. We did not have adequate lighting in our living room the last time we hosted study, I thought. And, one of our lamp shades, got to close to a candle and kind of burned it. Well...it really burned it. Whoops!! So, we were on the hunt for some new lamps. First, we looked at Target. Found some we liked but decided to check at Lowe's since they have a nice selection of lamps as well and both stores are next door to each other. We found some we liked better at Lowe's, so we got them. Hurray!

After Lowe's, we stopped off at Starbucks. Yum! I had the iced beauty on the left. My husband had the coffee on the right. Notice it is tinted a pretty shade of pink? (Maybe my pink obsession is rubbing off on him! HA!) He had some raspberry flavoring put in his. And, the little treat we shared was a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing on it. It was pretty good!

We came home and did some work at church for this morning and listened to the worship band practice then came home to watch the news and go to bed. I think it is always strange to be in the house at night without our girls. I catch myself being quiet when I don't have to be. I turned up the music last night LOUD just because I could and laughed at myself. :) Those moments don't happen a lot around here. I know that one day my little birdies will be gone from my nest and I will miss them greatly. But last night....it was nice just being husband and wife again and celebrating a day for lovers. Hope yours was fun whatever you did as well!

Love from God

We were eating breakfast this morning before school. The girls and I just chatting about their day. Valentines day parties and candy and friends and such. My oldest daughter was getting up off the bar stool when I looked down at her sweatshirt sleeve and lookie at what I saw! The tiniest little heart shadow from the window clings in the window. God shone His little light down this morning in my kitchen and showed three girls His love on my daughters sleeve. How amazing is that?

7th Grade Valentines

My 5th grade daughter was busy putting together her Valentines for the class party Friday. I asked the 7th grade daughter if her class was doing anything for Valentines day. I already figured the answer was no...but I wanted to ask just in case. The answer was no...but she said she would like to do something for her friends. So, we came up with this idea. I baked cookies this evening while she was at church baby-sitting. M & M cookies with Valentine colors. Can you see the red, pink and white chocolate yummies thru the bag?

She decided to give these to the people who sit at her lunch table tomorrow at school. There are ten of them that sit together. We stamped the little tags to put on them. Can you see what they say? My friend, my friend, my friend.....with the little pink heart. We think they turned out pretty cute. Hope her "table mates" think so to. I am also hoping that the mean kids don't make fun. I am betting they will be drooling with envy actually. I told her if they make fun, they are just jealous that none of their friends thought enough of them to do something so special. Boy is it hard to be in 7th grade. Did not like it when I was there and here I am again in it with my sweet girl. Sigh......
