Smiles Laughs and Giggles

I took a couple pictures today while I was playing working at the cafe getting it ready for the big opening day on Monday.  Goodness have we ever gotten a lot done.  Still much to do, but we are women.  Hear us roar.  :)  This is my wonderful friend and boss Nancy.  I have been blessed beyond measure to have her in my life.

And this dear sweet friend was working at the cafe today as well.   Even dishes are more fun with friends, aren't they?

p.s.  Thank you for each sweet note that was sent to me about my new endeavor.  I wish each one of you could come in to the little cafe and have a cup of creamy coffee and a yummy little treat with me.  I truly do!

Dreams Do Come True

Once upon a time there was a girl.  She loved to cook and bake.  She did not have any professional training to do it, just a passion in her little heart for feeding people she loved.
One day, her sweet friend mentioned to this girl about HER dear friend that was opening a cafe in their downtown area.  If you had asked this girl what her dream job would be, she would have told you without a seconds hesitation....."working in a bakery cooking, feeding and serving people!"
This girl believes that God is good and hears our prayers.  This girl started her dream job last week.

This girl is me.

I am not sure if I believe a "key to happiness" really exists.  But what I do know is this little key is going to open up a whole lot of fun and joy and excitement for my little life.  I will be back to tell you more soon.  It is a great story........

The Best Sweet and Sour Chicken Recipe

Sweet And Sour Chicken
Serves 4
INGREDIENTS:
Chicken:
3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Salt and pepper
1 cup cornstarch
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup canola oil
1 can of drained pineapple tidbits ( optional if you like, but it is really good with!)
1 green bell pepper seeded and chopped (optional if you like...but it is really good with!)
Sauce:
¾ cup sugar
4 tablespoons ketchup
½ cup vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon garlic salt
DIRECTIONS:
For the chicken, cut boneless chicken breasts into chunks. Season with salt and pepper. Dip chicken in cornstarch and then in egg. Fry in a little oil until brown but not cooked through. Place in a single layer in a baking dish. Mix sauce ingredients together and pour over chicken.
Bake for one hour at 325 degrees. Turn chicken every 15 minutes so it is evenly coated with the sauce. Serve over rice.

My sissy is coming to visit me today.  I am sooo excited!  I believe this will be on the menu.  Actually, it is so good, maybe we will have it twice.  Hee hee.
Have a lovely weekend....where ever you are.

A Fine Day

The snow was falling down so beautifully on Friday.  I awoke to the announcement of no school due to "inclement weather."  Oh dear!  The radio was also advising people to not get out on the roads unless they absolutely had to.  I had plans to go to Hobby Lobby for some shopping to make some pretty things.  So, what is a girl to do?  Put on her boots and gloves and head out!  I joked with someone that nothing stops a woman and her 40% off Hobby Lobby coupon.  Came home and turned on my little machine and began to stitch.
The iPod was tuned to one of my most favorite Pandora stations.....
I love Valentines Day.  It is fun to make things for people I care about.  This little tea towel is going to a dear friend back home who's favorite color is purple.  I miss her so much.  So, I decided that since she was on my heart, I would send some lovin to her mailbox from me.
Outside my back door...the snow was still falling.....
Fluffy kitty was taking a cat nap.......
Our grand total as of this morning.  My very scientific way of measuring snow.  A quilting ruler.
My finished little project.
